Tot Park & Nature Trail Opens in S. El Monte

Mini Center Tot Park Celebration

Saturday, October 26th – Odwalla, The Nature Conservancy, Target, and Amigos de los Rios hosted a Tree Planting Celebration at Mary Van Dyke/Mini Center for the opening of the Emerald Necklace Nature Trail and Tot Park at the Mini Center in South El Monte.

This Emerald Necklace Tot Lot and Nature Trail Project was funded by First 5 LA and the Los Angeles County Regional Park and Open Space District: goal of project is to increase outdoor play opportunities for young children and their families.

The Park Enhancements will create sustainable change in the community by providing diverse opportunities for families with young children to connect with nature and be physically active. Trees planted during this park opening celebration put the finishing touches on the Mini Center; cleaning the air, creating habitat for birds, recharging groundwater, and providing shade on sunny days.

This is one of six new Emerald Necklace Tot Lot and Nature Trails funded by First5 LA and the First District. We are grateful to the First5 LA for their commitment to increase opportunities for  families with young children  to be physically active and shift to active living.

We would like to extend a very special thank you to First5 LA for taking this innovative step to support our community!
