On September 12, 2015 from 8:00 am to 1:00pm – thousands of corporate and community volunteers will be spread out at regional parks and nonprofit organizations along the LA River in South East LA. Volunteers will have the opportunity to get their hands dirty on L.A. Works day as they spend their time throughout the regional park network planting trees, making mulch, cleaning, and weeding.
Additionally, in remembrance of September 11th volunteers will be working at the community garden and housing along the LA River at Bell Shelter – the largest homeless shelter west of the Mississippi – where more than 30% of the individuals served there are veterans. Teams of volunteers participating in the day will include: elected officials; large corporations and small local businesses; schools and universities; local community members; families; and groups from the entertainment industry and sports teams.
