Amigos receives 2016 APA award

Amigos de los Rios receives the APA 2016 Award for Excellence in Sustainability

We were so honored to receive the American Planning Association’s (APA) 2016 Award for Excellence in Sustainability Sustainable Communities Division for our work on Emerald Necklace Forest to Ocean Expanded Vision plan for Los Angeles County. The plan protects water resources while expanding parks and green infrastructure, particularly in underserved L.A. communities.

The APA Awards for Excellence in Sustainability honor projects, plans, policies, individuals and organizations whose work is dedicated to supporting and growing sustainable communities. The Sustainable Communities Division supports planners who are committed to planning for sustainable communities by integrating all aspects of sustainability into their work through the combined economic, social, and ecological factors that shape communities. In partnership with the International and Urban Design and Preservation Divisions, the 2016 Awards for Excellence in Sustainability have expanded to an international audience, with nominations coming in from across the globe.

We greatly appreciate this award from the American Planning Association and continue our work building the Emerald Necklace of parks and green infrastructure within the Los Angeles Basin.
