Amigos de los Rios lost everything in LA fires.

Amigos de los Rios, like many extraordinary nonprofits, small businesses, and individuals across LA, lost everything in the recent Los Angels County wildfires, including their office and all equipment. Thankfully, all Amigos staff and interns are accounted for and safe – some lost their homes. We will be working shortly on a separate GoFundMe for Amigos staff’s personal needs.

WHY THIS MATTERS

Amigos has a team of 25 talented individuals, including 10 California Climate Action Fellows.

Amigos de los Rios is working to create the Emerald Necklace: a natural infrastructure network of green spaces, green schools, parks, and trails throughout under-served communities in the Los Angeles Basin, including the areas of Altadena, Pasadena, Monrovia, El Monte and beyond – many of which have been directly impacted by the recent fires.

Amigos is connecting the mountains to the sea, helping to provide equitable access to nature, and protecting our environment and urban communities from the threats of climate change. They formed an alliance of 62 public agencies, known as the Emerald Necklace Coalition, which collaborates in the planning of new parks and trails and ‘watershed discovery schools’ and raising funds for the projects.
