Reconnecting communities with nature and culture. Restoring watersheds and wildlife habitat. Creating environments that promote good health. These are our key objectives, and we are joined in these aims by a lot of good company.
The Memorandum of Understanding that we signed in 2010 with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works promotes the expansion of the Emerald Necklace and funds a study jointly with the San Gabriel and Lower Los Angeles Rivers and Mountains Conservancy and Southern California Edison to ensure connectivity throughout the original area of the Emerald Necklace.
In addition, the California Strategic Growth Council has funded Emerald Necklace Group | Amigos De Los Rios to expand the Emerald Necklace Vision Plan from the initial 17-mile loop to include river corridors to the north and south. The expanded plan will encompass a multi-use, multi-benefit, 68-mile greenway that links communities throughout Greater Los Angeles. This agreement and funding represent giant steps on the path to realizing the grand vision: restoring nature’s balance and enhancing the quality of life for millions of people in our area.
