Lashbrook Park
3199 Lashbrook Ave, El Monte, CA 91733
The goal of Amigos De Los Rios | Emerald Necklace Group first demonstration project, Lashbrook Park and Trail was to prove what could be accomplished by bringing together community members and local government agencies to create a green space that brought pride to the neighborhood, and residents were comfortable visiting.
The AMIGOS was brought in by the City of El Monte to gather feedback from the area residents and provide this under served area with a bit of green space and a sense of place for the neighborhood.

LashbrookPark Design Elements
Amigos De Los Rios |Emerald Necklace Group specializes in the inclusion of native habitat and sustainable design principles. A great deal of care and consideration go into water conservation, habitat restoration, water quality improvements, cultural history, outdoor educational opportunities, and air quality in our planning.
Spaces designed and constructed by AMIGOS help cities and agencies save long-term maintenance costs by using drought-tolerant plant species, low-flow irrigation systems, and filtration of water through natural processes.
Our goal is to create an awareness of the natural and cultural attributes of our parks. Our signage is meant to enhance visitor perceptions of a site, city, or region and demonstrate community pride in our local heritage.
RECREATION
Amenities include picnic areas, benches, wayfinding signage and a water fountain as an oasis for local community and regional trail users.
Interpretive signage is a very important element of our park designs it offers a rich educational involvement bringing importance to the message and location.
NATURAL INFRASTRUCTURE
Many of the communities that Amigos De Los Rios serves are in habitat sensitive areas along rivers of the Los Angeles Basin. We have been instrumental in restoring these places for the benefit of the local people and environmental integrity.
STORM WATER MANAGEMENT
All water is retained and infiltrated on site. Spaces designed and constructed by Amigos De Los Rios help cities and agencies save long-term maintenance costs by using drought-tolerant plant species, low-flow irrigation systems, and filtration of water through natural processes.
CULTURAL HISTORY
The native plants featured at Lashbrook Park are culturally significant to the original inhabitants of the Los Angeles Basin, the Tongva-Gabrielino.
Plant signage and interpretive elements are in the Tongva language.
